Moving to Racial Equity: What’s Getting in the Way!?! | A Conversation with Funders
Private funders in the Bay Area and across the nation have long acknowledged the need to increase attention to racial equity. Many funding leaders and organizations have made progress over recent years. Yet Latinx and other nonprofit leaders of color continue to be underrepresented, under-resourced, and undervalued in organized philanthropy’s work.

Foundation leaders increasingly recognize that organizational structures and funding flows, decision making representation, and administrative oversight practices are not as responsive as they should be to the needs and grossly untapped potential of diverse grassroots communities. And yet change is not happening at a rate or scope sufficient to make a meaningful difference.

Why? What is getting in the way?

Join us for an honest conversation on the issues, featuring Seattle-based social investment activist and thinker Vu Le and session moderator Henry A. J. Ramos, a leading social investment advisor and board chairman of the Nonprofit Finance Fund.

Vu Le (“voo lay”) is a writer, speaker, and social critic. He is the former executive director of RVC, a Seattle nonprofit that promotes social justice by developing leaders of color, strengthening organizations led by communities of color, and fostering collaboration between diverse communities.
